In August 2003, I decided to hosted a Lunch to bring together women working in the City of London. On the last Friday in November 200 women shared experiences, heard a motivating and inspirational speaker and had fun! The formula worked and Women in the City is now an award-winning organisation that promotes, recognises and rewards female achievement.
Its Annual Celebration Lunch is held in November in the heart of the City of London attracts over 250 guests – female and male.
Women in the City’s Awards Programme has developed over the years and currently consists of 1 major award
- Future Leaders Award: identifying high-potential women at the point of transition from manager to leader
The Woman of Achievement Award ran from 2007-2015 and recognised C-suite and partner level women who were actively promoting the progress of women in their organisations. In 2015, WiC partnered with Women in Facilities Management to run the Encouraging Equality Award which recognised men championing gender diversity.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2013, Women in the City published Project Diamond, a handbook for career-focused women.
Women in the City’s community offers a unique channel to market for sponsors, brand partners and supporters alike.
