The Master Glass Seller has launched a Commission Competition<\/a> for a glass \u2018favour\u2019 designed and made by UK-based artists and designers. The favour will be presented to the 200-plus guests attending The Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers\u2019 Annual Banquet on 22 October at the Mansion House in the heart of the City of London.<\/p>\n

Valued at just under \u00a34,ooo, the Master wants to reach out to some of the most creative and finest glass artists and makers in the UK inviting them to design something with a \u201cwow\u201d factor as a gift for each of her guests.<\/p>\n

On launching the Commission Competition, the Master said:<\/p>\n

As far as I\u2019m aware, this is the first time a Master has launched a national competition of this kind and I’m delighted that fellow Liveryman and collector, Mark Holford together with Katharine Coleman<\/a> MBE, Glass Artist and Engraver; Rosy Greenlees<\/a>, Executive Director, Crafts Council and Reino Liefkes, Senior Curator, Glass and Ceramics <\/a>at the Victoria and Albert Museum have all agreed to be part of the Judging Panel.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Competition Timetable<\/h3>\n

January: Expressions of interest submitted
\nFebruary: Successful applicants advised
\nApril: Samples submitted and Judged
\nMay: Finalists<\/a> and Highly Commended<\/a> Artists Announced
\nSeptember: Samples on view and for sale<\/a> at the Glass Sellers’\u00a0 Glass Dinner
\nOctober: “Favours” presented to guests at the Glass Sellers’ Annual Banquet at the Mansion House in the heart of the City of London.<\/p>\n
