In addition to 6 Finalists<\/a>, 16 glass artists were selected as Highly Commended by the Judges Rosy Greenlees, Katharine Coleman MBE, Mark Holford, Reino Liefkes and Gwen Rhys who viewed 52 samples submitted from 36 artists.<\/p>\n

The Judges\u2019 said<\/p>\n

We were particularly pleased with the effort and care everyone had taken to interpret and fulfil the brief.\u00a0 There was a wide range of techniques with many artists pushing the boundaries of expectation and showing great virtuosity.\u00a0 Many samples were definitely \u201cconversation pieces\u201d and we were all amazed with what had been produced given the constraints of the budget.<\/p>\n

At the end of the day, the \u201cfavour\u201d needs to work in the context of the Banquet \u2013 the venue, the age range and likely tastes of the Company\u2019s guests. There were many items which, \u00a0although not quite \u201cright\u201d for the particular occasion, \u00a0would work well in another context.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Winner will be formally announced at the Company’s Glass Dinner on 24 September when the majority of samples will be on display and available for sale with the proceeds going to the Glass Sellers Charity.<\/p>\n
